Sophie Lim

Sophie started dance training at a young age with classes in ballet, modern jazz and tap. She holds a Diploma in Dance from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) where she made Dean’s List every semester and was placed on the Talent Development Programme. Prior to NAFA, she was a student at School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA) where she began pre-professional training in ballet and contemporary dance.

Sophie has worked with numerous renowned choreographers such as Kuik Swee Boon, Dan Kwok, Son Yu Joung, Christina Chan, Adele Goh and Jeffrey Tan. She was a member of TRDO 2nd Company and performed in some of the company’s dance film productions. In Masterpiece IBC 2022, she won the Grand Prix Award in the Contemporary solo category with a self choreographed piece.

Sophie is presently a dance practitioner, teacher, choreographer and programme executive of DANSTUDIO as well as Dance CCA Assistant Teacher for some schools. She is a certified teacher of Progressing Contemporary Technique, a programme aimed at conditioning the body for contemporary dance. Sophie hopes to impart to her students proper technique in contemporary dance and to inspire in them a love and appreciation for the art form.
